Altamont Museum and Archives

The Village of Altamont Archives and Museum (VAAM) will hold a 2nd Open House on Saturday, February 6th, 2010 from Noon to 3 pm.  The facility is located inside the Village Hall and includes an exhibit space in the Hallway Gallery.

Featured in the Archives will be a 2’ x 6’ photographic mural of a panoramic NE view of the village (see photo) as well as a metal panel fragment from a mural, 150 Years of Railroad History, painted in 1979 by Altamont artist Gene Jordan, which once existed in Paisano’s Pizza Villa.

In the hallway gallery an exhibition, entitled A Sense of Place and Station: Altamont’s Historic Houses featuring prints of historic homes will be on view. Visitors will be able to view images of the Miles Hayes House (Fairview Ave.); the Hiram Griggs House (Prospect Terrace); the Philip Edelman House (Grand St.); the Mayor Frederick Keenholts House (Lincoln Ave.) among others.
